Steaming Greens

I just got home from work. Boy was it a long day! I was very hungry after. I made myself some steamed greens and a smoked turkey, honey mustard, and lettuce sandwich.

How to steam your greens:

Place cut up greens in a wok and add a cup of water over the greens.

Place a size smaller cover over the greens and turn your stove to high.

Bring it to a boil and then turn the burner down to medium heat and let it steam for 15 mins. (Keep in mind that not all vegetables are the same such as  broccoli, which takes less time).

Next, turn off the burner and drain the remaining water out of the wok. Let the covered greens sit for 5 minutes making sure it is off the heat.

Enjoy!

Notice: I added a sprinkle of  parmesean cheese to the greens while I let it sit for the remaining 5 mins. yum!

Well, I better hit the hay for the night. I hope you all had a good day!

What vegetables do you like steamed the best?

  1. Interesting, I may have to try that. We love steamed carrots. Speaking of vegetables, Mercedes and Hunter love peas! We buy the frozen kind and microwave them. Although they like them frozen for a snack for some reason as well. I don’t know how they even knew they liked them cold, but…. anyway. Mercedes will say to me sometimes, “Mommy, can I have chilly peas?” She invented this term for them. Also, the other day she asked for “chilly broccoli”. That is a weird request from a 3 year old!
