You Like Fish

It just so happens that my

is also my birthday post!

Welcome to the No Fishing Birthday Zone!

Early Monday morning Nate and I set out to do bridge inspections. I made myself a mug of  Tazo Earl Grey tea and we munched on bananas on the way to an Engineers office to pick up bridge information papers.

A half hour later, Nate returned with a stack of work.

A fairly large stack of bridge papers, that would keep us busy and on our toes for the next two days.

The first bridge we stopped at had a pretty stream running underneath.

(If I had a better camera, you would have photogenic bridges.)

We then went on to discover more bridges and quite a few donkeys.

Does anyone know why people would want more donkeys than horses? What on earth do they use them for?

We looked at a few more bridges we decided to call it a day.

 And tracked down a campsite.

We set up camp and had a successful fire.

Nate then prepared a Couscous Broccoli Dish.

We then each proceeded to hit the hay because we had an early morning awaiting us. Plus, who isn’t excited for their birthday?

Tuesday morning I woke up to a beautiful 60 degree birthday!

    Breakfast was oatmeal and honey.

And we were off to another bridge just a short drive away.

For lunch, we stopped back at camp to have prepackaged salad picnic by the stream.

Lettuce, Alfalfa sprouts, Carrots, Sunflower Seeds, and Spinach.

Packed up camp and set out to discover a lot of bird nests.

Nate took a few more measurements.

More bridges, and by dusk it was time to call it a day.

Not far from where we were at we decided to stop at a well-known small meat shop to buy the “best beef jerky and meat around”. But we missed the closing time by 45 minutes.

Perhaps delusional from a long day, we managed to find a Cheese Curd Vending machine at the shop. Only in Wisconsin, right?

Just kidding, this looked promising, but we finally discovered that it was an actual soda machine. (But-an epic cheese curd vending machine would be awesome, right?)

We concluded the day with a stop at a breakfast café and headed home.

While doing bridge inspections, Nate always runs by some pretty ‘unique’ graffiti.

Graffiti winner of the day:

 Eats Eats Eats:

Breakfast on the go:

Watermelon drink, a KIND bar, and a banana.

Anyone ever decided to eat a banana on the road and discover at the same time that the person in the car next to you is eating a banana the same way, and at the same point in the banana, look at each other at the same time. This is what happened to me and the lady in the other car and I burst out laughing at the same time.

Subway Veggie Delite. Buy a foot long and eat it for two meals? Score!
